the beginner's guide. I presume you're a beginner here at Gotham's Night, as you are viewing the guide for beginners. This guide was created for the sole purpose of giving our new members a sense of direction as they delve into the world of Gotham's Night. Nobody wants our new members to be confused when they're first getting settled in, do they? Right, no. Now, then, shall we begin?
As you should already know, Gotham's Night is based off of Fox's series Gotham. You probably stumbled upon this place from an advertisement somewhere. You, most likely, chose to join or are contemplating it because the site grabbed your interest. We're glad if it did. That means we're doing something right.

starting off. i. Now, you're going to want to begin by reading the site's rules. These rules may seem like every other set of rules you've read, but they are still important to beginning your life at Gotham's Night. ii. you may have already, but I'd suggest taking a look over the Gotham Gazette to make sure you haven't missed out on the plot, updates, and more important things that pertain to the site! iii. After you've done that, head over to The Census. This place will give you a better grasp on what you may want your starting character to be. Later we'll discuss the making of your character in-depth; this is only the beginning steps. iv. After you've looked over all of that, it's come time to register an account with us (if you already haven't.) As a guest, you'll see two link to the right of the navigation bar (fixed bar that contains links such as "home," "members," "search," etc.) You'll want to click the link that read "Register." When prompted with the following page, enter the email you'll use to sign up with the site and the username you will be using (this is not your display name and you will be able to change it to contain uppercase character, symbols, etc later.) Now, upon submitting it, you will be taken to the forum's home-page. You can now edit your profile and post as a member.

creating a character. i. Now that our roman numerals have reset themselves, we can move-on to begin the creation of your character. To start off, you must have an account registered for the character you desire to play (i.e. "Jessica Truscott" would be your account if you want to play her.) Moving on, you'll want to head over to the Character Database. Now, you'll want to head over to the topic in File Pickup titled "Character Application." You'll want to copy and paste the code into a new topic in that same section. ii. Now comes the time to actually begin creating your character. You should fill out all of the required fields and, when finished, submit the topic. iii. Now you will have to wait for a staff member to deny/mark pending or accept your application. Once accepted, you can begin role-playing.
